Alex’s social impact journey began while studying development economics and natural resource management at the University of British Columbia, where experiences with community development initiatives in Bolivia, Indonesia, and Ecuador sparked his interest in locally driven approaches to economic and social development.
Over the past six years, Alex has worked in Canada’s affordable housing sector, including roles with BC Housing and the Community Housing Transformation Centre (CHTC). Most recently, he led CHTC’s grant programs and funding strategy across British Columbia, Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, and Yukon. Through this work, Alex became particularly interested in how capital can be allocated effectively and equitably to strengthen community-led organizations and advance solutions to complex social challenges.
At Fuqua, Alex hopes to deepen his understanding of scaling impact, impact measurement, and how business can be used as a force for good. He is particularly interested in impact investing, social impact consulting, and social entrepreneurship. Looking ahead, Alex hopes to work at the intersection of capital and social impact, helping organizations and investors direct resources toward solutions that are financially sustainable and responsive to the communities they serve.
