Sam is a dual MBA/Master of Environmental Management student, focusing on using finance to accelerate the clean energy transition and address the inequitable impacts of the rising global temperature. Prior to school, she was in sustainable investing at Wilmington Trust where she engaged portfolio companies on climate risk. Wanting to get closer to the engine of the energy transition, she came to Duke to deepen her understanding of both climate finance and energy systems.

At Duke, Sam has explored climate finance from multiple angles: pre-seed/seed companies at Blueridge Climate Ventures, researching just transition funds as a CASEi3 Associate, and working on clean energy transactions at Marathon Capital, an investment bank focused on the energy transition. She’s especially interested in how to channel capital into clean energy solutions that serve historically underserved communities, both in the US and globally.

She enjoys yoga, live music, hiking, and picking up (and occasionally abandoning) new crafts like ceramics, crochet, and watercolor painting. She’s excited to be part of the CASE community and looks forward to continuing to learn alongside people working at the intersection of climate, impact, and capital.
